A Gtem Best Practice Guide – Applying Iec 61000-4-20 to the Use of Gtem Cells

The draft standard IEC 61000-4-20 includes the GTEM cell as a measurement facility for emission and immunity tests. A Best Practice Guide is being written, giving guidance how to perform measurements according to this standard, and with acceptable uncertainties. This paper presents some results of the research performed to produce this guide. Frequencies above 1 GHz are increasingly required for radiated emission and immunity tests. This paper describes measurements performed to investigate the upper frequency limit for the use of GTEM cells. First results show that the GTEM used for these measurements can be used up to 2.3 GHz for immunity tests and at least up to 4.2 GHz for emission tests.
